Our Mission
Vision The vision of the American Happiness Association is to show people the ways and means for them to live happier lives. Our focus is on helping people learn and practice intentional and sustainable happiness. Why Is an American Happiness Association Necessary? Happiness is one of the most sought-after experiences in the world. It's also the most misunderstood. The resources on this site are designed to help you learn what happiness is, what it isn't, and how to experience more of it. Science now has the answers to the many questions people have about happiness. Is it genetic? Is happiness the opposite of unhappiness? How do negative emotions affect your body? Can we stay in love with the same person all our lives? Does money make people happy? Do we have to put up with the 20 percent of our day that we hate or is there a better way? You might have met people who were just born happy. Some people won the lottery of happiness genes when they were born. If you didn't, don't give up. Our parents only account for half of our capability to be happy. On this web site, we will show you the other half.
Happiness is not a goal. It's not a place. It's impossible to look for it, and it can't be found. Happiness isn't dressing up in a bunny suit or singing Cum-Ba-Ya while swaying and hugging a stranger. When you get the big house, the fancy car, the cosmetic surgery procedure, or insert-happiness-goal-here________, you might be happy for a while, but we can already tell you it won't last. A lot of people look for happiness in all the wrong places. Happiness is abundant, free, fun, and available to all. All of us can experience intentional, lasting happiness. This site will show you how. All you have to do is have an open mind and some time to look around.
We'd like to be your resource for happiness until, hopefully, happiness will become such an ingrained habit that you won't need us anymore. Then feel free to send us all of your unhappy, grouchy, scrooge-like friends so they can get their AHA. Manifesto
